Our Story

Once Upon a time...

There lived two sisters named Isabelle and Mimi, they lived along the countryside in a quaint little village called Elpitiya atop a hill. Their home was no mansion, but it was still very special because from there, they could see the ocean for miles and miles and the nearby forest was theirs to play in as they pleased. Rural and far away from the town, but their lives were anything but unexciting or ordinary as you might imagine. Their story is our story, so here's a bit of it.

Isabelle loved to let her imagination run, to create new things, and she had a special talent for baking. She would draw inspiration from whatever she read, for her baking. Each day, Isabelle would happily escape to the distant lands of these books. There was nothing she loved more than finding a cosy little nook in the garden and burying herself in a good book. She'd often tell her sister bedtime stories based on the tales she read. Every night as she drifted off to sleep, her last thoughts would be of all the magical places she explored in her books. Little did she know that these stories would one day colour her own life as a grown-up!

The two sisters were an unstoppable team. Even with the oceans that separated them later on in life, they remained together in their hearts for the rest of their lives.

Every afternoon, as the clock struck three, they would slip out of their bedroom and meet in the garden for a most enchanting tea party. Their playmates who were deer, rabbits, little squirrels and birds, would visit them and even share all the food that they brought. Isabelle loved to bake special and uncommon cakes and pastries. She always made the cakes for these teatime affairs. Mimi would gather flowers from the forest and their garden to make refreshing teas and cordials for their afternoon tea parties.

Mimi was a lively little girl and she made friends with everyone. She loved chasing after butterflies just to see where they went. The forest was as much her home as the little house on the hill. She would jump into ponds and flower meadows alike. There was not a single little creature who lived in the forest that wasn’t her friend. She saved berries and bananas from her own breakfast, just to share with her animal friends. Squirrels would sit on the branches of the tree outside her bedroom window just to say good morning to her. Rabbits would bring their injured babies to her so she could heal them. Unafraid and always on the lookout for adventure, she explored the world around her from the tops of trees.

The two sisters were opposites in everything, except in their hearts. They loved their family and the world around them. And they were both fearless, outspoken and kind. Isabelle and Mimi were not afraid of anybody or anything. They laughed during lightning storms. They smiled at snakes in the forest, for they believed that all creatures were special. They stood up to bullies who picked on their school-friends.

Isabelle & Mimi represent three generations of sisters. Their personalities represent the two sisters in heaven now. The names represent the two who are far across the ocean. And the reason for and passion behind our brand comes from the two sisters who had an unmeasurable love for vintage crockery and afternoon garden tea parties.
