An undying love for tea parties

I am very fortunate enough to have had a very magical childhood, and that is all because of my Grandmother. My Grandparents had lived in the UK for more than 10 years before i was born. For as long as I can remember, they spend half of the year in London and the other half in Colombo with me. My grandmother was obviously very influenced with all things British that even extended to her taste in crockery and décor. Their home had cabinets full of vintage crockery and silverware. There was a collection of crystal service bells arranged neatly on shelf in the living room. Her dining table almost always had a Nottingham Lace Tablecloth on it. To say she was an Anglophile is a bit of an understatement.

My grandmother would spend most evenings in the kitchen baking from Welsh cakes to rhubarb crumble. My cousins, sister and I were always her little assistants .We would help her by rolling out the dough and counting, cookies etc. She would tell us stories about her travels around the world as we worked. I remember how her eyes would light up like a constellation of stars when she told us about Christmastime in London. But something that has really stayed with me through the years to this day is the garden tea parties she had for us in her rose filled garden .The garden parties were magical and fairytale like and felt straight out of an Enid Blyton storybook. Fast forward to the present day, my love for tea parties seems to be here to stay.
